Andrea M. Fonner, DDS
Dr. Fonner has a broad background in anesthesiology and is highly trained in the administration of anesthesia in the outpatient setting. She is a Fellow in General Anesthesia, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and a Diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology, among other impressive certifications and professional affiliations. In addition to a General Anesthesia Permit, she is highly trained in matters of Advanced Life Support. Dr. Fonner speaks regularly on such topics as Office-Based Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Medical Emergencies and has written extensively on pain management and outpatient anesthesia. Her impressive background includes a Chief Residency at the University of California-Los Angeles, a General Practice Residency at the University of Washington Medical Center and degrees from the University of the Pacific, San Francisco (DDS) and the University of Washington, Psychology.
Her outstanding authority in the practice of anesthesia has earned Dr. Fonner numerous positions within the field, among them: Board of Directors for the ADSA and the ADBA, Editorial Advisory Board, President and Co-Founder, Washington State Society of Mobile Dental Anesthesia, and President and Delegate, Washington State component of the ADSA.
Simon Robert Prior, B.D.S., Ph.D., M.S.
Dr. Prior comes to CurPoint Orthopedic with an impressive background in anesthesiology. He is a board certified Dental Surgeon and Anesthesiologist in private practice here in Washington State. Until 2016 he was, for many years, an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Program Director of Anesthesiology at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. As Clinical Associate Professor he provided both inpatient care of trauma and cancer patients at OSU, and outpatient care of special needs and maxillofacial patients of the College of Dentistry and the Columbus Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He supervised numerous Master’s level research candidates and was a regular BLS and ACLS Instructor. Dr. Prior has also taught and practiced in the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Germany, and recently earned academic appointments in the field of anesthesiology to both the Rochester University School of Dentistry and Medicine and to Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY.
Included among his many professional affiliations are Board Member of the Education Committee of the American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists, and Examiner for the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Prior earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Mainz University, Mainz, Germany; a Master of Science (M.S.) degree from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand. Dr. Prior has written extensively on intravenous and inhalation sedation and on pain management theory and practice.
